Well as you know I had an awesome week in England, it was a beautiful week with no major weirdnesses of any kind, apart from the fact the weather was insanely hot, defying the steriotype of horrible weather that I had before (Everyone I knew told me to prepare for bad weather, hence my thinking there would be crappy weather) .

Getting to the airport was pretty easy, my uncle offered to give me a lift both to the airport and home afterwards which was a huge helper. Upon my arrival at teh airport I went through security where I was the lucky recipient of a free bomb search. I think that's proof that it's random because I don't look like some kind of mad bomber, at least not on the day I went to the airport. The plane ride itself was pretty OK, we had a stop over in Hong Kong which I hadn't thoguht was happening since I booked a nonstop flight but at least the plane was good, no major bouts of turbulance or nothing. What's often joked about Airline Food is true though, it does suck royal but at least it came with the ticket so there's a plus. They had little TV's in the seats that provided us with free entertainment, on the way there I got to finnally see that movie The Hangover, it's pretty darned funny and really any movie that can get Mike Tyson and a tiger in the same room has my vote for movie of the year. They also had some Family Guy, Simpsons and My Name is Earl which made the 24 hours fly by.

Once I got into England I went straight to the hotel, the Abcone Hotel in Gloucester right near the train station. The hotel was really nice and located really close to the tube station and a bunch of shops, I'd highly recomend it for future journeys to england because I could pretty much get to everywhere that I needed to. I spent the first day looking about a place called Fulham Broadway, a little shopping center that was reallynice. There was a HMV in there so I grabbed a few gifts for the family, including a book calls Sense & Sensability & Seamonsters... this is a real book title, i couldn't make that shit up. It's written by the same guy that did Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, seriously who came up with that?

After that I managed to get the train (After a 4 minute wait DAMN THEM AND THEIR DECENT PUBLIC TRANSPORT SYSTEM) to leister Square, again another great place to go. inside the station was a store which sold discount tickets to West End shows, which for a guy on a severe budget is a major plus. It was kinda tricky to pick what show to go too, they had a lot like Oliver, Avenue Q, Dirty Dancing and Mousetrap but in the end I decided to go and see Sister Act. The original price was about 68 pounds (US$=112 AUS$=123 ) but through TCKTS (The discount place I got the tickets from) it was only about 48 pounds (US$=79 AUS$=87 ) which was pretty darned awesome. I got a seat in row S which is pretty damned close to the stage and the show was awesomely cool

It was an incredable show, they recast all the main roles perfectly and I honestly thing that it's better than the movie was. I have so far listened to the album about 3 times since getting home and i'm burning both you gals a copy of it to enjoy. Just as a sample here's one of the cooler numbers in the show, it's set just after Deloris has gotten the choir to sing properly and like in the movie she's taught them a song she used to sing in her nightclub act

The day after that was again a very nice warm day, I went back to Leicester to look about, it's stunning to see how much effort these people put into making the outside of their theaters look for the shows. I still remember seeing a very strange sight for the Pricilla show, they had a huge High Hell above the door of the theater, it was so strange that I couldn't forget it. I spent most of the day pretty much browsing around the stores, it was my last day before travelling over to the Thistle Hotel for Hallowhedon so I didn't want to spend too much money but just looking about was pretty awesome. I did find a little comic shop and guess what? OPRAH HAS A COMIC! I crap you not I saw it, I would've bought it but I was scared to touch it thinking it may melt my hands from it's horrific surreal evil. I grabbed the latest seasn 8 comics there cos it's actually cheaper, how that works out I don't know but then again I'm not math man.

The next sday was D-day, I headed from my hotel at about midday with my bags all packed (I think that was the morning I saw the British Sandy Rivers I mentioned in one of my emails) and headed to the hotel. It was pretty nice, somehow I managed to get a double bed... I wonder if they were hinting at something. The opening ceremony (Basically telling us what's gonna happen) was to start at about 6 so they opened the Dealers Room early. Now you both know how much of a nut I am and that I have a huge collectin of Buffy crap i've gotten from eBay so it won't be a shock when I say that I went ape shit in there with my random buying of crap. I managed to get a copy of Antony Heads Album (Music For Elevators) which I am burning for you both, I could only find 1 copy of it there so I leapt on it like a puma. I also bought a slightly better picture of nick cos the one they gave us with the pack, while OK, didn't look like it was good for signing so I grabbed one that was a lot better. I also grabbed a copy of the Buffy Board game for about 5 pounds which was a damn stunning find I think, I was really happy to get it. Also there was a stall that was selling comics and book and if you spent more than 10 pounds you got a free spike comic... so I went back there twice to get 2 free comics HEHEHE I like abusing peoples generosity. I bought a really cool book on the Serenity movies which includes the script, and a book on the Buffy musical that has not only the script but the music which I can neither read nor play.

A while later, after getting all my purchases put away in my bag (I learned the fun way that next time I go I need to take a bigger bag... a waaaaaay bigger bag) it was time for the opening ceremony. They opened by telling us about James's injury, basically his back was well and truely fucked to the point where sitting was impossible. He actually had to stand behind his chair, joking that there wasn't going to be any way to get his ass print on the chair he knew they were going to sell, at which point the compare said "We have ways of getting your ass print" which was pretty funny. They talked a bit about how it was to travel there, some claiming they flew economy (I find it hard to believe but then again I don't knwo how much they get paid for this) and Mark Lutz tried to one up everyone by saying he flew in the Cockpit, but he was outdone by Nicky who asked "Why'd you fly in a pit full of cocks?" which brought the house down with laughter. All of them seemed really nice and happy to be there, James Leary (Clem, he looked so different without his giant flabby skin outfit) seemed insanely energetic, running back and forth accross the stage trying to get everyone cheering louder and louder. Mercedes seemed to feel out of place, but then again considering who she was on stage with and hw insane all 4 of the guys were ya can't blame her. Now later that night there was a party with Kareoke and gambling, it was a vegas theme... problem was in a lovely bit of shitty timing I got some kind of stomach bug that hurt like hell, I spent the entire night up in my hotel room lying on the bed and trying not to feel sic and get better for the next day. The reason it sucked even more than I thoguht it would.... well turned out Nicholas Brendon went to the party, and did kareoke. I swear the second I found out I was majorly pissed but thankfully someone broke a rule of the convention and videoed it

again I say ARRRGH I MISSED IT, BASTARD STOMACH VIRUS.

Anyway the next day was a lot better, I still had mild stomach painss but I wasn't about to let them stop me from going to get my photos taken, no siree bob. Now I forget the ordeer I took the photos in, I know it was over the course of the start of the day but here's a few fast bullet points

[*] James Marsters is godly, the man was in pain yet still did photos, of course you couldn't touch his back but he did put his hand on my shoulder to basically hold himself up and (Though you won't see it in frame) held my hand, and yes I will be chopping my hand of and sending it to one of you so you may feel the warmth of James's handprint... OK that's a big bit of BS

[*] I'm taller than Nick, but only by about a centremeter or so. Still when you see the photo (I'll have it up soon) look for the hand that was on my shoulder and proceed with the "You lucky bastards" because that's his hand...

[*] Mark Lutz is a really nice guy, he was very polite and seemed genuinely happy tobe there, as did James Leary, both of whom were really good about getting their photo's taken, and again with the arm thing, both putting arms on shoulders.

[*] Mercedes McNab seemed a bit standoffish. Don't get me wrong it was awesome of her to turn up and harmony is an awesome character but during the photoshoot there was no shaking hands, no arm on shoulder, no touching of any kind. It was kinda like those awkward school dance photos you have as a kid when you’re scared of catching cooties, there was a dead zone between us... still though it is a nice photo, I just really noticed the difference after the other 4 photos.

I also got Mark Lutz’s and James’s Autographs on the first day, I’d have to wait till day 2 for the rest of them. James had to do all his autographs lying down on some big ass table, his upper body propped up so he could do the signings. His line was severely epic, it curved around the room. He had so many to do and was in so much pain that he didnt’ even have time to personalise anyones autographs but like that matters at all, I was just happy to be there. There was also a table full of James stuff near the line to sell (I noted there was no such table for any of the 4 other guests, which seemed a little unfair to me. Don’t get me wrong I love James Marsters, Spike is awesome and for James to be there at all was just stunning but why the fuck was he considered more important than Nick? All the way through the event I kept noticing it, he got the biggest applause and the centre seat and had a dinner with him auctioned off, am I alone in thinking that’s just a little unfair? By episode count alone Nick win’s hands down! Sure if there was a table for Nick I couldn’t see me buying anything since I have all the DVDs I can find but still I’d of liked the option) but anyway, they had copies of James’s latest album for sale, and I promptly bought 2 copies for both my bestest buds. When I got to the front of the line I had a photo signed (It came with the admission, and it now belongs to Aleria) and a very awesome comic, Spike After the fall special issue that they were selling. There was only about a thousand printed with the cover I got so it’s really rare and is now mine, all signed and everything.

After that it was time for the talks, first up was James doing a solo talk which I have to tell you was awesome. He talked a bit about this movie he did as Buzz Aldrin and discovered he has a fear of being smothered... because that’s so rare. Apparently the costume they wore was damn difficult to get off and the helmets were really tight and it led to a few panic attacks from the cast. He talked about his kiss with John Barrowman on torchwood and how weird his first day on set was. He put on his Spike voice just to say “Bloody Hell” after comically weeping saying he wanted to move on and try new things and not go back to the old roles. We even got an on the spot performance of the “To be or not to be” monologue of Shakespeare that he did without any warning or build up and dear fucking god it was good. The man knows his Shakespeare. He talked about Twilight when asked “How do you feel about Sparkling Vampires?” and said “Why do you want to make Vampires safe?”. There was some other stuff that I honestly don’t remember, though they were videoing it so they may make it into a DVD and when they do I’ll let you know so you can grab a copy.

The next talk was with Mark Lutz and James Leary but I didn’t go, I had better plans. See during the day they had an auction going on, you could bid to get a seat on what they called a Guest Encounter with the guests. 45 minutes in a room with the guest and 12 people, it’s something that nerdish dreams are made of... and my nerdish dream came true. I won a spot at the guest encounter with Nicholas Brendon, I bid 45 pounds (US$=74 AU$=81) but since everyone only had to pay whatever the 10th highest bidder paid I only had to pay 22.50 (US$=37 AU$=40) to get in. I swear I was so happy, the secone we walked in he was so freaking polite, saying hi to everyone and seemed genuinely happy to be there. Oh and by contrast, Nicks was 45 minutes long and went for under 23 pounds, James was 30 minutes (Back pain related I’m guessing) and went for 101 pounds... I think I got the better deal. Anyway Nick was really nice, he had a beer upon seeing someone else had one which led him to try and go around the table and asked us all if we were alcoholoics, I claimed I was drunk right now (A subtle Kitchen Confidential reference, it’s a line he said in the episode French fight... I’m sneaky) which seemed to get a little laugh. Some claimed they weren’t alcoholics, some said they were, one said she wasn’t an alco but a pot smoker prompting Nick to tell us about the fact that there was a ton of legal pot store where he lived. I learned that during one year on Buffy he’d gone to the makeup guy and asked for some costume help, getting told that there was a goats head he could wear. Well with this goats head he then went and got some old 70’s outfits and went out as Cheesy Goat Man, with one pocket full of crackers and another one full of goat cheese... and apparently has never done Halloween costumes since then. I learned he has a bee sting allergy, or at least did as a kid when he got stung by one and his foot swelled and got infected yet he still soldiered on and went trick or treating. He told us about a homeless guy who lives near his house that he gives money too but told him not to tell anyone, yet apparently the homeless guy told someone who went and asked Nick for money to get his car out of the impound lot. All the way through Nick seemed genuinely nice, really funny and a little worried about the one man show he’s doing (And girls, apparently he takes his clothes off on stage... you’ve just booked your tickets haven’t you?). The only bit that annoyed be wasn’t the fault of Nick, it was the fault of the person sitting across from me who was TEXTING DURING THE ENCOUNTER!!!! Now texting when someone is talking to you is bad enough, but to be texting in a situation where people have paid money to be in the room with one of their idols is really rude. To add insult to the injury when it was revealed the girl was texting her mom Nicky offered to call her mom to say hi and the girl said no. Now I know for a fact if that offer had been made to me I’d of been killed for even pausing for thought, it just felt rude. Still though Nicky ruled and was insanely funny and polite, affirming how much I know he’s made of awesome.

After the encounter of awesomeness it was time for another talk, this time with Nick and Mercedes. Now when you see the clip there’s something I need to explain, at the beginning of each session they allowed flash photography for about a minute and then it had to stop for the comfort of the guests. Well when it came time to end the compare said “Let’s do this the old fashioned way and count down from 10”... well that was a mistake because for pretty much the rest of the weekend every single guest mocked the phrase “Lets do this the old fashioned way” but none more so than nick. While we were all going down from 10, he was jumping randomly about with numbers “7, 13, 5, 87” and such, it was hilariously funny. The questions started, some people asking about the hair pulling fight and who would’ve won, they agreed that it would’ve been neither. They talked about the makeup process to become vampires and Mercedes told us how she preferred working on Angel because she was there all the time as opposed to Buffy where she’d come on for one or two episodes every now and then. Then it happened, the question we all knew was coming we just had no idea when... “Can you do the snoopy dance?”.... well I just wanna say, YES HE CAN!!!!

I swear the video doesn’t doo the applause justice, people were screaming with insane nerd happiness and for once I wasn’t the nerdiest one there... OK so I was close. Seeing the snoopy dance live is freaking hilarious and awesome, he can still do it dead on nearly 5-6 years after it first hit the screen. Also during the talk he kept learning things about Mercedes, like the fact that she’s Canadian for instance and every time there was a new revelation he jokingly moved his chair away from her claiming that the talk’d be over when his chair hit the edge of the stage. Well when he got up to answer one of the questions Mercedes got up, grabbed his chair and carried it over toward the edge of the stage getting a resoundingly loud laugh. In fact I found that exact moment on youtube (Whoever did these by the way is very naughty, but it’s majorly helpful right now)

My question about Supercat got asked (I was so proud) and I learned that he and his writing partner have been working on a few pilots and 2 movies so there’s no news on the Supercat front, though now I know that there’s 2 movies in the works that’d be co-written by nick I’m keeping my eye out. He talked a little about how he learned that Joss wanted to kill Xander in season 7 and had to be talked out of it by the other writers, thank god for those other writers because I don’t think I could’ve handled dead Xander... though Xander as the first would’ve been fucking awesome.

Then it was time for the auction, they had a whole bunch of stuff they had to sell and man was it going off. There were scripts signed by the cast (Couldn’t afford it), a signed photo of David Boreanez in a bathtub (You both know the picture I’m talking about, I got one already for mom for her birthday), the chairs the guests sat on (I’d never have gotten it onto the plane) and even a dinner with James himself (I still can’t get over it’s 900 pound pricetag.... in either currency it’s over a grand). I knew I wanted something special that I couldn’t get elsewhere, I would’ve bid on the section of David’s Vampire Makeup but there’s no way that would’ve survived the trip home safely. Instead I ended up bidding on and winning a picture of the Trio signed by Adam Busch and Tom Lenk, so now all I need is to get it signed by Danny Strong and that’d be the trifecta of nerdish awesome. I also won a Season 3 video box set of Buffy that was signed by Alyson Hannigan, her autograph has a freaking smiley face on it it’s so cool.

After that it was time for another party that I was too damned ill to go too, I learned fast that the best thing to do was to forget the parties and just rest up at night so I’d be well enough for the day time parts. I also learned that it was a lot cheaper to go the Super Size Me route and eat nothing but McDonalds while I was there rather than eat the meals they offered. The cheapest meal I could find at the hotel was about 5 pounds and a meal at Maccas was around 3, it adds up.

Next day I only had 3 autographs to get from Merceds, James Leary and Nicky. Mercedes was seeming to cheer up, she was pretty nice about doing the signing. James Leary signed and added “Got Kittens?” to his one, a beautiful reference that made me giggle. Though here’s something about James Leary that need’s to be pointed out if you go to one of these things, the man had a bad hangover on the day. Apparently at the second party he’d had a fair amount to drink so throughout the autographing periodically he had to leave the table, go outside and throw up. He got teased mercilessly about it during the second set of talks later that day but he was a good sport about it, he took his lumps. Then I got Nicky’s autograph... or I got it just before James, I don’t remember the timeline and I can’t be fucked finding the timetable that’ll tell me specifics. He signed my DVD of Kitchen Confidential (So I shall now only watch the copy I had made... what? It’s impossible to find and I watch it so much I knew I would wear it out so I went to a friends place and asked them to burn me a copy, apparently that’s legal as long as it’s only for personal use as a backup) and then signed the photo, he was able to personalise it so Colin you have that one (I had a split second to choose who got which one, I couldn’t afford to get 2 extra of each or I would’ve)

Then I kinda went back to the dealers room, I know I’m insane but I couldn’t help it... they had cool stuff. I think it was on day two that I got a replica of Xander’s car from the Zeppo, a little Vampire Xander bust, some trading cards and more comics including the rare Jonathon one for under a pound. Now this could’ve been days 2’s shopping of the second time in on day one, like I said a lot of these things kinda mix in my memory cos it was so fun all around. I do remember day 2 was the day I bought a Buffy shoulder bag because I’d learnt I had no more room in my bags for everything so I needed it to help me carry everything, like I said shoulda brought a bigger bag.

Then it was time for more talks and first up was a Nick solo talk which was definitely fun. We got another snoopy dance out of him on the second day and it got just as good a reaction as it did on day one even though we’d all seen it barely 24 hours ago. He learnt about Xander’s latest relationship in the comics (Dawn) which lead to him saying it felt oddly paedophilic with some incest tossed in, he even said “We don’t have many Paedophiles in the states, we do have catholic Priests though”... I don’t know how he managed to milk so much comedy out of the world Paedophile but he did. He treated us to his little solo verse from the song they sang in the library in Once More With Feeling (It could be witches, some evil witches, which’s ridiculous cos witches they were persecuted wicca good and love the earth and women power and I’ll be over here) which was really cool. Then came something that was oddly touching, when Nick was asked who his acting influences were he named 2 of them, first one was Cary grant... second one “James Marsters, that guy can act”. No one else in the entire guest list named any of their co-stars as an influence so it was really kinda sweet to hear.

Next was a combo talk, with James Marsters and Mark Lutz. To start with James fought the pain to force himself to sit in the chair enough so that whoever had one it would get the much wanted James ass germs. He spent the rest of the time standing up and in a lovely showing of solidarity Mark also remained standing. This is one of the few things that is a tiny bit blurry in my head so I can’t remember to many really big moments in this one, I do remember that James said one of his big influences as an actor was Meryl Streep which I thought was kinda interesting. Mark told us about how he’s working on writing a biopic (Apparently he did one about a swimmer that they’d showed at the party the night before... you know the party I couldn’t go to?) about a fighter pilot which sounds pretty interesting.

Finnally we had another talk with Mercedes and a still slightly tipsy James Leary who was getting ribbed a lot. There was one moment that kind sticks in my head out of it’s strange and silliness. Someone asked Mercedes “If I added you on facebook would you accept”... which is oddly stalkery in my opinion but she gave a tentative yeah. James said how he wanted to make a site called Assbook for all the people he hated, Mercedes topped it by saying she thought it’d be for all the people he’d slept with and James went one up by simply saying “It’d be a very short book then”. We learned that James’s makeup for Clem took AGESSS.... which Ok not a shock considering the complexness of the makeup but heck it was still kinda fascinating to learn. He mentioned that they’d often joked about doing a sitcom with Spike and Clem, and can I point out how insanely awesome that would be?

To end the con we had one last group talk, all 5 guests back on stage for a few last great moments

[*] Both Nick and Mark joining James in standing behind their chairs, a nice gesture of solidarity for the man who really should’ve stayed home with his back ache but still he came anyway just for his fans, GO JAMES!!!!

[*] Question: “If you could go on any Reality TV show what would it be?”
James Marsters answer: “If there was a show called Shoot Simon Cowell In The Head, then that one”, Classic

[*] Another question was “What is your best and worst body part”, at which point Mark promptly walked to the front of the stage and started to undo his pants (Nothing was shown perve brains). Nicky however won by saying “And that’s the worst part”

[*] Any time James Leary got teased for getting drunk the night before, he was such a good sport about it and laughed along with everyone else which really I think was just brilliant. For him to take all the jokes in his stride is pretty impressive in my book... I have a book

[*] Mark talking about his reaction to Joss writing a musical, after Joss told him he had never written or played any music. Marks one liner “I fucking hate that guy” muttered jokingly under his breath, and really considering how well the musical turned out with no actual musical ability I wanna second that reaction myself.

[*] The reveal of Hallowhedon 2’s first confirmed guest, Anthony Head, being met with thunderous applause. To think that this can all happen again next year, and FYI Nick said a few times he’d gladly come back for next years one so if the organisers have any sense then they’ll take him up on that offer pronto like

So that was my convention trip, it was filled with moments I don’t think I’ll be forgetting in a hurry. I went home the day after the con, heathrow airport is as busy and as big as I heard it was. Obn the plane I watched the latest Harry Potter flick and even got to see a new show with Anthony Head (The man was haunting my TV viewing the whole damned trip, first voicing and Animated villain on an animated Dr Who I watched in the hotel and now on the plane) called Free Agents, if you can get to see an episode of it I highly recommend it, it’s pretty funny. All in all it was a weekend to remember, incredibly fun and one of these days I hope to repeat it.

Well now it's time for the photo madness. Now a lot of these photos aren't mine, my camera sucked royal and made everything blurry or hard to see but I decided to do the cheat trick... use the other attendees photos to fully get accross the awesomeness of the evening. But first let's go through the few I had that worked

The first hotel I stayed at, very nice and simple. You can't see it in this phto but there was a TV and table and a shower too, very simple and really nice.

The view from my room, isn't it pretty?

My london Palladium ticket, very nice

Wore these first day there, seemed appropriate

The only photo of me that I took, that's my pass in one hand. There's only one because I didn't wanna break the camera... I kid, I kid

Me and Clem (James Leary)... Yeah I took photo's of the photos, I have no working scanner

Me and Harmony (Mercedes Mcnab), Does it not look like the worlds most awkward prom photo ever. Oh and yes I am smiling in all of them, my smile is neither toothy nor... well good, I'm not a great smiler

Me and Groosalug (Mark Lutz), he was seriously a nice guy and pretty funny, not an idiot like his character at all

Hate me bitches, that's me and James and below frame i'm holding his HAND (Mind out of gutter ladies)

I'm taller than him, see see. Look at my shoulder, you see those pink things? THAT'S HIS HAND!!!... proceed hating procedure

Just some of the stuff that I got at the dealers room, that Spike Comic at the bottom is what both of you are getting. I still have to learn how to play the board game, meh I got time

My cool new bag (Yes I realise it's kinda girly, I was desperate and needed much stuff) And 4 decks of cards. You two girls pick one that you want, it's yours (If you don't pick I have to and I am so not choosing man)

My auction wins, Aly's signature and 2 out of 3 nerds... I was happy

Even more stuff from the dealers room (Told ya I needed the bag) You both are getting that CD and Aleria, get a good look at your autographed picture cos it'll be heading your way tomorrow).

OK from here on in, these are not my photos, they were taken by other con goers and posted on their facebook... and I stole them for you gals, i'm evil

I want James Leary to play Indy next, can they start working on that?
